Studio Productions, at Bingley Little Theatre, strives to support innovation in production, performance and writing. Central to its mission is to foster new writing and creativity through its ITCH programme. ITCH was devised by Studio Productions’ Chair, Richard D Rhodes and is supported by the wider Studio Productions Committee and Bingley Little Theatre community.
ITCH comprises several components:
- Scratch Nights: short 10-minute plays are performed, script-in-hand, by members of Bingley Little Theatre. Audience members are invited to provide feedback, via online questionnaires. Writers get the feedback as an invaluable R&D opportunity. Details of forthcoming scratch nights, including submission callouts and full terms & conditions, can be found here. The next Scratch Night is on Saturday 31st January 2026. Tickets cost £6 + booking fee and can be obtained here.
- Script Writers’ Lab: typically on the second Wednesday of the month, writers – of all different kinds of script – stage, screen, audio & beyond – meet to share peer support and encouragement, reviewing callouts and strategies to get work into production. The free monthly gatherings alternate between meeting in person and virtually. Membership is open to people who are 16 and over. Contact the ITCH team here for more details.
- Theatre in the Bar: poets, writers, singers and creatives self-produce 5-minute pieces for an audience to enjoy. It is an opportunity to see how well new material lands. The next Theatre in the Bar – titled “Arrival!” – takes place on Thursday 30th April 2026. Submission details are here.
- Table Readings: Bingley Little Theatre members read and discuss scripts with an invited audience and playwrights in attendance. Table readings can arise out of direct submissions to Studio Productions, through our Script Writers’ Lab or by invitation.
- Rehearsed Productions: working with playwrights, through the Script Writers’ Lab and Table Readings, Studio Productions will take selected material, with running times of 30 minutes or more, into full production. It is likely that this material will be scheduled for events in the 2026/27 season and later.
